Braces Glasgow City Centre

straight teeth newAre you looking for a dental practice in Glasgow City Centre that can offer treatments that involve straightening your teeth? If so you should come to 1 Smile as we have a wide range of options available to all of our patients.

The different ways of straightening your teeth include:

  • Traditional metal braces (these are widely available on the NHS)
  • Six month smiles
  • Invisalign

.

Traditional metal braces

The purpose of these braces is to allow you to bite correctly, eat more comfortably and care for your teeth and gums more easily. Traditional metal braces are available on the NHS and will straighten crooked, crowded or protruding teeth, close gaps between the teeth and correct the bite of the teeth so that the top and bottom teeth meet when you close your mouth.

The treatment times for metal braces is usually from 18 months to two years and regular visits to the orthodontist will be required.

Metal braces are only available free on the NHS for under 18s who need it. They are also available on the NHS at the standard charge for complex dental treatment for adults who need it, however, adults who want these type of braces to fix minor cosmetic problems aren’t eligible for metal braces under the NHS.

Six month smiles

We regularly have many patients in Glasgow City Centre who come to us who are unhappy with their smile but they don’t want to be wearing braces for years or they are concerned that other corrective teeth straightening procedures will be too expensive.

Six month smiles involves fitting small clear brackets and wires to your teeth, as the name suggests the brace will only be in your mouth for six months and you will then be left with your teeth perfectly straight. They are different from metal braces in the sense that they aren’t the “train track” type of brace and they are much smaller and lighter, with them working well on crooked or badly spaced teeth.

Our six month smiles use a small amount of force to move your teeth into the final position. The wires and brackets will apply constant pressure when they are worn which will then cause your teeth to move into the correct position.

After the treatment is complete you will have to wear a retainer, this is so that you can maintain the new position of your teeth. This can either be a retainer that is fixed to your teeth and worn on a permanent basis or it can be a removable retainer.

The advantages of six month smiles is that it’s able to treat the following conditions:

  • Misaligned teeth
  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Crossbite
  • Overcrowded teeth
  • Gaps between the teeth

Invisalign

We have many patients in Glasgow City Centre who want their teeth straight but they don’t want people to see that they’re having treatment done on their teeth at all. Invisalign is the perfect option if you’re someone who wants your teeth straight but you don’t want anyone to know about it, this is because it involves using removal aligners to straighten your teeth instead of using wires and brackets.

With Invisalign the aligners are virtually invisible and are removable for easy cleaning. You will be able to eat whatever you want without having to worry about food getting stuck in anything and you will experience a greater level of comfort, convenience and confidence.

The price of Invisalign can vary depending on each individual case, however, this will be discussed with you before you arrange to go ahead with treatment.
